How to remove serverHold from my .XYZ domain?

Modified on Mon, 13 Jan at 2:19 AM

A Server Hold lock is a status imposed by the central registry on .XYZ domains flagged for abuse or violations of domain registration policies. This lock prevents the domain from resolving, effectively rendering it non-functional until the issue is addressed.

It’s important to note that the Server Hold lock is applied solely by the central registry and cannot be removed by the registrar. At CodeHost, we or your registrar are unable to mediate directly with the central registry on your behalf. As the domain owner, it is your responsibility to communicate with the central registry and work toward resolving the issue.

Follow the steps below to address and remove the Server Hold lock :

Check Your Domain’s Status
Visit the official WHOIS lookup tool: https://www.whois.com/whois/

If  your domain status is listed as serverHold, that means it's indeed suspended by the registry.

Steps to Lift the Server Hold Lock

1. Understand the Reason for the Lock
Access the Registry’s website to review the specific abuse case associated with your domain:
https://gen.xyz/account/submitticket.php?action=unsuspend
Enter your domain name and complete the Captcha to view its status.

If the domain is suspended, the lookup results will specify that it has been reported for abuse.

2. Request a Review

  • Click the Request Review button to access the review form.

3. Check for Blacklisting
Verify if your domain is blacklisted by using the following services:

If your domain is blacklisted, submit removal requests to each platform using their respective forms. After the domain is removed from the blacklists, recheck its status and take screenshots as evidence.

4. Submit the Review Form

  • Upload the screenshots under Section 3: Enter Required Evidence in the Registry’s form.
  • Provide your Name and Email Address and submit the form.

5. Await Registry Response
You will receive an acknowledgment email from the registry once your request is submitted. The Registry will review your case, and if approved, the Server Hold lock will be lifted, and your domain will be unsuspended. You will be notified of the outcome via email.

By following these steps meticulously, you can resolve the Server Hold lock and restore your domain’s functionality.
